How Story Sprinkle works

The steps

   Tell us who the hero is

   Enter your child’s name and age (1 to 12). The story is written for that age and stars your child. You can save the child’s details, so next time you only tap their name.

   Choose the kind of story, and add an idea

   Pick one of five story types: Fairy tale, Animal, Adventure, Bedtime or Educational. If you like, add an idea of your own, such as favourite toys, friends or places (up to 1,000 characters).

   Pick the length

   Short is 3 pages, Medium is 5 pages and Long is 7 pages. Short is a good fit for sleepy eyes.

   Choose a narrator and a picture style

   The story is read aloud by a male or a female voice. For the pictures, choose Watercolour, Anime, Comic Book, Cartoon, Claymation, Paper Cutout, Fantasy, Pixel Art or Neon Jungle.

   Choose how your hero looks

   Use the default Boy or Girl character, or, when photo avatars return (they are paused for now), an optional photo avatar that looks like your child. A photo avatar is a one-time purchase: you add 10 photos, and preparing the avatar takes about 20 minutes. Once it is ready, you can pick it for any new story.

   Sprinkle the magic

   Tap “Sprinkle the magic” and Story Sprinkle gets to work. The story text takes about 2 minutes, the narration about 2 minutes and the pictures about 5 minutes.

   Read, listen and share

   Open your story in the web app or the iOS app. Read it page by page or press play to listen. Stories are private by default. To share one, send a private link; anyone with the link can read and listen, and you can stop sharing at any time to turn the link off.

How long does it take to make a story?

The story text takes about 2 minutes, the narration about 2 minutes and the pictures about 5 minutes.

Can I use a photo of my child?

Photo avatars are paused for now. When they return, they are optional. A photo avatar is a one-time purchase. You add 10 photos, preparing the avatar takes about 20 minutes, and then your child looks like the hero in new stories. Without it, you choose the default Boy or Girl character.

Are the stories private?

Yes. Stories are private by default. If you share one, you send a private link that you can turn off at any time, and shared stories are hidden from search engines.

What ages is it for?

Story Sprinkle is made for children aged 1 to 12. You enter your child’s age, and the story is written for it.

Is the first story free?

Yes. Every account gets 1 free story. If generating your free story fails, it is refunded, so you can try again.
