  1. Watercolour of Aiko in star-print pyjamas and yellow slippers riding the cream-white unicorn Alba and reaching for a fluffy cloud above the moonlit countryside

The moon was a soft round lamp. Aiko sat on her bed and looked out the window. The night was quiet and kind. Stars blinked like tiny sleepy eyes. Then a gentle whoosh came by. Her friend Alba, a cream-white unicorn, floated there, slow and calm. Alba's horn glowed like warm honey. "Hello, Aiko," Alba said in a hush. "The clouds are fluffy. Will you help me fold them into cozy blankets?" Aiko smiled a big sleepy smile. She put on her yellow slippers. She climbed onto Alba's soft back. Up they went, easy as a yawn. The wind felt like a warm hug on her cheeks. Below, the countryside was getting ready for sleep. Houses had little yellow windows. Trees stood still. A pond held the moon like a cup of milk. Aiko patted Alba's neck. "We can make the night cozy," she said. Alba nodded. "Soft pats make the clouds cozy," Alba whispered. Aiko reached for a fluffy cloud. It felt like warm cotton in her hands. She smoothed it flat. She folded one side. She folded the other side. Pat, pat, pat. The cloud became a soft white blanket. Aiko gave a tiny giggle. The sky smelled like clean sheets. An owl called once, then grew quiet. The moon watched with a kind face. Aiko and Alba floated on to the next cloud, ready to tuck the land in.

  2. Watercolour of Aiko folding a cloud into a soft white blanket while Alba holds the edge, above a red barn and a stone house with glowing windows

Aiko and Alba moved from cloud to cloud like two quiet helpers. Each cloud was round, white, and light as a sigh. Aiko patted the tops smooth. Alba held the edges with a gentle nose. Fold, fold, fold. The clouds turned into blankets. They were soft enough for dreams. Down below, a red barn rested in a green field. Aiko let one blanket float down over the barn roof. It landed with a hush, like a kiss on a forehead. The cows inside gave a sleepy moo and closed their eyes. Next came a little stone house with a blue door. Smoke curled from the chimney in a thin, calm line. Aiko folded a smaller cloud for the windows. She tucked it along the sill so the night air stayed warm. A dog on the step wagged once, then curled into a ball. Aiko waved a tiny wave. "Sleep well," she whispered. Alba's hooves made no sound at all. Only a soft hum, like a lullaby, drifted in the air. They passed a wheat field, a duck pond, and a row of apple trees. For each place, Aiko made one more fold and one more gentle pat. Her hands were careful. Her heart felt full and peaceful. The countryside looked wrapped in white comfort. Small care, given slowly, made every roof and tree feel safe.

  3. Watercolour of Aiko asleep in bed under a starry blanket while Alba rests close beside her, the moon glowing in the window

At last the big clouds were all folded. The sky looked neat and calm, like a bed just made. Aiko yawned a long, soft yawn. Her eyes felt heavy and happy. Alba turned toward home, slow as a drifting feather. "You did a kind thing," Alba said in a warm hush. "Your gentle pats made the night feel warm." Aiko leaned on Alba's neck and smiled. They floated down to her window. The room was dim and cozy. Her blanket waited, soft and pink. Alba nuzzled her hair. "Sleep well, little helper," Alba whispered. Aiko climbed into bed. She pulled the blanket up to her chin. Outside, the cloud blankets rested on barns, houses, and trees. A night bird sang one tiny note and then was still. The moon glowed like a night-light. Aiko listened to the quiet. She thought of each pat and each fold. Helping had felt as sweet as warm milk. Her yellow slippers sat by the bed. Her hands rested on the blanket. Alba stayed by the window for one more moment, cream-white and calm. Then Alba faded into the starlight, leaving a soft glow. Aiko's eyes closed. Her breathing grew slow. She dreamed of fluffy clouds and gentle pats. The whole countryside slept, warm and peaceful, because one small girl had cared.
