Diya the mermaid floated in Moonbeam Cove. The moon was big and soft. Silver light lay on the water like a blanket. Her sea turtle friend Kavi swam beside her. His eyes were kind. "It is sleepy time," Diya said in a small voice. She did not want to wake the cove. Diya opened a little shell bag. Inside were glowing pearl nightlights. Each pearl was round. Each pearl gave a warm, quiet glow. "We will set them out," she whispered. "Then everyone can rest." Kavi nodded. They swam past pink shells and green weeds. They did not splash. They did not rush. A tiny fish peeked out, then hid again. Diya set one pearl on a smooth rock. The rock shone like a night lamp. She set one pearl by a curly shell. The shell looked like a cozy bed. "Good night, little shell," Diya said. Kavi made a low hum. The hum felt safe. Diya smiled. Diya felt warm and happy. She patted Kavi's shell. "We help our friends," she said. "Next, I will sing a gentle song." Bubbles rose slowly. The water stayed calm. Diya held the next pearl in her hands. It glowed like a tiny moon. "A few more lights," she said. "Then the lagoon can sleep." Kavi blinked. Together they floated on, quiet and glad.

Diya and Kavi came to a soft sea garden. Sleepy seahorses clung to green stems. Their little tails curled tight. Their eyes were half shut. "Hello, sleepy seahorses," Diya sang in a hush. "The moon is here. It is time to rest." She set glowing pearl nightlights in a gentle ring. The pearls made a cozy glow. No light was too bright. Kavi rested his chin on a smooth stone. He watched with care. One seahorse wiggled. It did not want to stop. Diya did not fuss. She smiled with her caring heart. "I will hum," she said. "You can lean on my song." Her hum was slow. It sounded like waves saying shh, shh, shh. Kavi hummed too. His hum was deep and warm. The wiggly seahorse grew still. Its curls relaxed. Another seahorse yawned a tiny yawn. Diya tucked a soft leaf near its cheek. "There," she whispered. "You are safe." A third seahorse blinked, then closed its eyes. The garden felt like a big quiet bed. Diya set one more pearl by the stems. The glow was pale and kind. "Good night, little tails," she said. "Good night, little curls." Kavi gave a soft nod. The seahorses did not peek. They did not wiggle. They rested. Diya felt glad. The cove was quiet now.

Diya and Kavi floated to the middle of Moonbeam Cove. The glowing pearl nightlights twinkled all around. The sleepy seahorses were still. The little fish were still. The water made a soft shh. Diya took a long, slow breath. "I will sing now," she said. Her song was gentle. It had no loud notes. It sounded like warm water rocking a boat. "Rest, little cove," she sang. "Rest, little waves. The moon will watch. I will care." Kavi sang a deep hum under her song. Together they made a lullaby. A crab tucked into the sand. A shell rocked, then grew still. Diya's caring heart felt warm and light. She knew a gentle song could help friends settle into the night. She sang one more soft line. "Good night, Moonbeam Cove. Good night, pearls. Good night, Kavi." Her voice grew smaller. Her eyes grew heavy. Kavi's eyes grew heavy too. He rested his head near her arm. Diya curled her tail like a cozy blanket. She held one pale pearl close. Its glow was dim and sweet. "We helped everyone rest," she whispered. "Now we sleep too." The cove was quiet and safe. Diya yawned a tiny yawn. Then her eyes closed. Kavi's eyes closed. Their breathing was slow. Diya the mermaid fell asleep under the soft moon.
