Princess Imani stood in the moonlit hall of Sunberry Castle. Her knitted yarn crown sat soft on her hair. Her fuzzy plum slippers hugged her feet. Nutmeg, her cat, waited with slow, blinking eyes. "It is time to say good night," Imani whispered. She took one tiny step, then another. Her slippers went shush, shush. Nutmeg's paws went pat, pat. They did not run. They did not yell. They moved like a quiet song. The first room was the cozy kitchen. Pots were still. Cups were clean. A round kettle sat on the stove like a small moon. Imani put one gentle hand on the wood table. "Good night, warm kitchen," she said. "Thank you for soup and bread. Thank you for the sweet smell of sunberries. You helped us feel full and safe." Nutmeg rubbed his head on the table leg and made a tiny purr. Imani smiled at the pale moon in the window. The night felt kind. The castle felt safe. She patted her yarn crown. Nutmeg walked by her fuzzy plum slippers. They tiptoed onto a soft blue rug. Imani breathed in and out. "Quiet steps help every room rest," she said. Nutmeg's small meow sounded like yes.

Next, Princess Imani and Nutmeg came to the sitting room. Moonlight lay on the big soft chairs like silver blankets. A knitted throw was folded just so. Books rested in a low basket, quiet as sleeping birds. Imani tiptoed in her fuzzy plum slippers. Shush, shush. Nutmeg's tail made a slow wave. He jumped onto a chair, then curled into a small orange ball. His purr was soft and steady. "Good night, cozy chairs," Imani whispered. "Thank you for hugs and stories. Thank you for holding us when the day felt long. You turn this room into a safe nest." She smoothed the throw with one small hand. She set a pillow straight. She did not rush. Slow hands made the room feel loved. Nutmeg opened one eye, then closed it again. He was practicing rest. Imani looked at her knitted yarn crown in the window glass. It looked like a soft little hill. She smiled and touched it. "Thank you, room," she told Nutmeg. "We say thank you. Then we let the room sleep." They listened. The clock went tick, tick, very soft. The moon made no sound at all. Imani nodded. The sitting room was ready for night. She waved a tiny wave and tiptoed on.

At last Princess Imani and Nutmeg reached her bedroom in Sunberry Castle. The bed waited with a plum blanket and a round pillow. Moonlight made a gentle path across the floor. The room smelled like clean cotton and warm milk. Imani kept her knitted yarn crown on, soft as a sleepy hat. She kept her fuzzy plum slippers on for one last soft walk. Shush, shush. Then she lined them up like two quiet friends. "Good night, cozy bed," she said. "Thank you for holding me. Thank you for dreams. When I move slowly and speak softly, this room becomes a cozy place to rest." Nutmeg jumped up and made a warm spot by the pillow. Imani climbed in. The blanket felt light and kind. She patted Nutmeg's back. His purr was a bedtime song with no words. She named three thank-yous in a whisper. "Thank you, kitchen. Thank you, chairs. Thank you, bed." Each thank-you made her feel lighter. Her eyes felt heavy in a happy way. Outside, the moon kept watch. Inside, Sunberry Castle was still. Imani yawned. Nutmeg yawned too. She pulled the plum blanket to her chin. "Good night, castle. Good night, Nutmeg," she murmured. Her breaths grew slow. Princess Imani fell asleep, safe and glad.
